JULIUS TART OPTICAL is a brand newly established by Richard Tart, the nephew of Julius Tart, the founder of Tart Optical Enterprises, which was founded in the early 1950s, carrying on the legacy of Julius Tart.

Richard Tart has experience working in Tart Optical's factory and marketing, possesses a vast amount of documentation, and is the only person who truly carries on Julius Tart's legacy.

Based on the extensive documentation left behind by Julius Tart, and utilizing modern, superior technology and proven materials, the newly created frames will possess an unprecedented presence.

Launched in 2016, JULIUS TART OPTICAL aims to preserve the feel of New York's golden age from the 1950s to the early 1970s, while drawing inspiration from art, culture, and the evolving design of New York. The brand plans to develop collections that faithfully reproduce realistic forms, restore numerous classic frames, and create new collections with added design elements.
